Starting a new session

From your Dashboard, click New Session (top right).

  1. Enter the Patient Name or this will start form your integarted EMR

  2. Choose a Prompt Template — the note format that suits the consult (for example, a Physio Follow-Up / Progress Note).

  3. Click Start.

Recording the consultation

Once the session starts, record the consultation directly in PatientNotes, or upload a pre-recorded audio file. Give consent where prompted, and you can jot quick points in real time while recording so nothing is missed. When you're finished, stop the recording and PatientNotes generates your note.

Reviewing your note — the three-tab session page

The redesigned session page organises everything into three tabs:

  • Context — patient and appointment details, plus any background loaded for the session.

  • Interaction — the transcript and recording of the consultation.

  • Clinical Note — the generated note, ready to review, edit, and finalise.

Once your clinical note is complete, you can generate follow-on documents straight from the session — including a patient summary, a letter, or a report.

Review the generated note, make any edits, and add your practitioner sign-off. You can also turn any flagged action in the note's Plan section into a task using Add task.

Tips

  • Pick your template before you hit Start — it shapes how the note is structured.

  • Use the in-session notes to capture anything you want reflected in the final note.

  • Always review and sign off the note before it's used — the AI drafts, you approve.
