Choosing Your Server Location (AU, Canada, US, UK, Global)
When you create your PatientNotes account, you’ll be asked to choose a server location. This setting determines where your data is stored and processed, and helps ensure the best performance and compliance for your region.
Available server locations
PatientNotes currently offers the following server regions:
Australia (AU)
Canada
United States (US)
United Kingdom (UK)
Global (for regions outside the locations above)
Why server location matters
Choosing the right server helps with:
Performance: Faster recording uploads and processing by using a server closer to you.
Data residency: Helps meet regional requirements about where data is stored.
Team consistency: Keeps your organisation’s data in one place (important for shared templates and team accounts).
Which server should I choose?
Use these simple guidelines:
Choose Australia (AU) if: you’re based in Australia or your clinic primarily operates in Australia.
Choose Canada if: you’re based in Canada or your clinic primarily operates in Canada.
Choose United States (US) if: you’re based in the US or your clinic primarily operates in the US.
Choose United Kingdom (UK) if: you’re based in the UK or your clinic primarily operates in the UK.
Choose Global if: you’re outside these regions or unsure which option applies.
If your team is in multiple countries
Choose the server based on:
Where your organisation is registered, or
Where most of your patients/clients are seen, or
Where you need your data stored for compliance.
Best practice: your whole organisation should use the same server region to keep everything consistent.
Trouble logging in? Use the correct server URL
If you ever have issues logging in, it’s often because you’re trying to sign in on the wrong server. Try logging in using the URL for your chosen region:
Australia (AU):
https://au.patientnotes.appCanada:
https://ca.patientnotes.appUnited States (US):
https://us.patientnotes.appUnited Kingdom (UK):
https://uk.patientnotes.appGlobal:
https://patientnotes.app
If you’re not sure which one you selected, check your onboarding email or ask your admin (for team accounts).
Can I change server location later?
Server location relates to where your data is stored, so it isn’t changed frequently. If you think you selected the wrong region, contact support and we’ll help.
Still stuck?
If you tell us your country and the URL you’re trying to log into, we can quickly point you to the correct server.
