What is My Persona?
My Persona is where you tell PatientNotes how you like to write. Two clinicians can use the same template and want quite different output — one prefers dense clinical language, another prefers plain and thorough. My Persona captures your personal writing style and applies it across your notes, so the output sounds like you wrote it.
Your four style controls
My Persona lets you set your preferred style across four dimensions. Each has three levels, so you can find the combination that matches how you document:
Vocabulary Density — Plain, Clinical, or Dense. Controls how technical the language is.
Clinical Reasoning Visibility — Findings only, Linked, or Full rationale. Controls how much of your reasoning is written out.
Structural Rigidity — Flexible, Guided, or Strict. Controls how closely the note follows a fixed structure.
Defensive Documentation — Standard, Guarded, or Thorough. Controls how much protective detail is included.
Learned preferences
Beyond the four controls, My Persona can learn from how you edit your notes. When you consistently make the same kind of change — shortening a section, using a particular abbreviation, preferring a certain tense or naming style — PatientNotes can suggest saving that as a preference.
Suggestions appear in a Suggested for you area for you to apply or dismiss.
Each preference can be set to apply across all your templates, or only to a single template.
Everything learned is visible and editable — nothing is hidden, and you can change or remove any preference at any time.
My Persona vs. Template Rules
These two work together but do different jobs. Template Rules control how a specific section of a specific template is formatted. My Persona is your personal style, applied across your notes. If a template Rule and your Persona ever seem to conflict, the section-level Rule is the more specific instruction.
