The PatientNotes desktop app is now available for Mac and Windows. It works just like the PatientNotes iOS and Android apps — but on your desktop or laptop. The app captures system audio directly, meaning it records both sides of a telehealth call without needing a separate audio cable tool or virtual audio device.
For Mac users, this replaces the previous macOS audio cable tool entirely. Once installed, the app keeps itself up to date automatically.
How it works
The desktop app captures system audio from your computer — including audio from telehealth platforms like Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet — and feeds it directly into PatientNotes for transcription. You no longer need to configure virtual audio cables or route audio manually.
The recording experience mirrors the iOS and Android apps: start a session, record, finish, and your clinical note generates automatically.

Installing on Mac
If you have the previous macOS audio cable tool installed, delete it first before installing the new app. You can drag it to the Trash from your Applications folder. The new desktop app replaces it entirely.
Open the downloaded file and follow the on-screen installation steps.
Once installed, open the PatientNotes desktop app. System audio capture is built in — no additional configuration required.
From this point on the app will auto-update whenever a new version is released — you won't need to reinstall manually.
