How to Edit Patient Summary Templates in V2
Patient Summary templates in V2 give you complete control over structure, content, and formatting. You can build templates from scratch using custom blocks or let AI do the heavy lifting with Craft with AI.
Video Walkthrough
Watch this step-by-step demonstration of editing a Patient Summary template:
Getting started
Go to Templates → Patient Summary
Click Edit on your template (or Upgrade to V2 if available)
You'll see the V2 template editor with two main options:
Craft with AI — AI builds your template based on instructions
Custom — Manual template building with blocks and sections
Method 1: Using Craft with AI
The fastest way to build your template is with Craft with AI:
Open the Craft with AI tab
If you have an existing patient summary you love, paste it in as a sample
Tell AI to "fully adjust to that sample layout" — it will restructure your template to match your preferred style
AI will create sections like "What We Found Today," "Your Action Items," and "What You Need to Know" based on your example
Method 2: Building with Custom blocks
For full control, use the Custom tab to build manually:
Add headings — Create section headers like "Summary," "Action Items," "Next Steps"
Add text blocks — Paragraph content with instructions for AI
Add tables — Medication tables, treatment schedules, or measurement tracking
Add conditional sections — Content that only appears if mentioned in the session
Adding medication and treatment tables
Tables are particularly useful for Patient Summaries:
Click Add Block → Table
Choose your table type — medications, exercises, treatment plan
The table will auto-populate from session content when you generate
Adding clinic branding with merge fields
Make your Patient Summaries look professional:
Logo — Add at the top for PDF-ready documents
Clinic name and address — Contact details for patient reference
Practitioner details — Your name, credentials, and direct contact
Setting document rules
Once your structure is ready:
Click Save to save your template
Go to Document Rules to control tone, length, and detail level
Test your template against a real session using the Test tab
Pro tips
Patient Summaries work best with conversational, warm tone — patients aren't clinicians
Use section headings like "What We Found," "Your Action Plan," and "What You Need to Know" for clarity
Include contact details so patients can reach you with questions
Test with a real session before going live — it helps catch any template issues
