Using PDF & Image Upload to add context to your clinical notes

Attach PDFs or images (like X-ray reports, MRI results, or assessment forms) to a session so PatientNotes can use them as context when generating your clinical notes.

What is PDF & Image Upload?

You can now attach PDF or image files directly to a session in PatientNotes. The content is extracted and used as additional context when generating your clinical notes — so you don't have to retype results or findings manually.

Common use cases:

  • X-ray or MRI reports

  • Pathology results

  • Pre-session assessment forms (e.g. Pelvic Floor Continence Ax, outcome measures)

  • Referral letters

  • Previous clinical reports- Handwritten notes

How to enable it

PDF & Image Upload is currently an Early Access feature. To turn it on:

  1. Open any session

  2. Tap the Early Access / Beta features icon at the top of the session screen

  3. Toggle PDF and Image Upload on

  4. The feature will now appear across all your sessions

How to use it

  1. In your session, tap "Show additional context and files"

  2. Scroll down to the Files section

  3. Tap Choose Files or drag and drop your file into the upload area

  4. Supported formats: PDF, PNG, JPG, WEBP, GIF (50MB total per session)

  5. PatientNotes will extract the text content and add it to your session context automatically

  6. Record or type your session as normal — the file content will be included when your note is generated7. If you add files or context after the session, regenerate the note to incorporate the uploaded content.

Tips

  • You can attach multiple files to a single session

  • Works alongside the Context text field — use both together for maximum detail

  • Files are attached per session and not carried over to future sessions

  • For best results with PDFs, use text-based PDFs rather than scanned images where possible- You can also add files or context after a session and regenerate the note to update it.
